What is Word Chains?
Word Chains is a free word puzzle where every word links to the next. Each neighboring pair forms a familiar compound word or two-word phrase, and together they build a chain from the first word to the last. You are given the opening word and the first letter of each word that follows. Your job is to work out the rest, one link at a time.
The Daily Puzzle is one shared chain for everyone, released fresh every day, with five hearts for wrong guesses and three letter hints for tough spots. Want more? Timed Mode gives you three minutes to solve as many word pairs as you can, and Random Puzzle pulls a new chain from the library whenever you like.
The trick is that each word has to work twice: once with the word before it and once with the word after it. A word that seems obvious on its own might not lead anywhere, so thinking a step ahead is half the fun.
EXAMPLE CHAIN

- PRINT + SHOP = print shop
- SHOP + TALK = shop talk
- TALK + RADIO = talk radio
- RADIO + BUTTON = radio button
- BUTTON + MAN = button man

Start from the top word
The first word is given. Every word below it shows only its first letter.
- 2
Find the missing link
Each pair of neighbors forms a familiar phrase, like PRINT SHOP, then SHOP TALK.
- 3
Don't lose your hearts
You have five hearts for wrong guesses and three hints that reveal letters.
